According to India TV, 744 pilots had received licences by 2019, putting the decade high almost within reach. Only 578 licences were given in 2020 due in large part to COVID. The record was almost broken the following year, though, when 862 licences were granted. With 1,081 licences awarded as of December, India has officially surpassed the four-figure threshold with 2022 still open. It is anticipated that the total number would exceed 1,100 with one month remaining.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-the-current-new-about\"><strong>What is the current new about?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>In 2022, the DGCA issued a record-breaking 1,081 commercial pilot licences, indicating the industry&#8217;s recent strong recovery. The number of licences was less than half of what it is now six years ago, demonstrating that airlines are heavily investing in hiring local pilots to fill capacity needs. Not only is there more demand, but there are also more training facilities available, which is the cause of the increase.
